The Old Arbat

The Old Arbat. This pedestrian street in the center of Moscow has a history dating back to the 14th century and every house has a story to tell. In the second half of the 18th century the Arbat became the most aristocratic part of Moscow, and the district was successively populated by the hereditary gentry, well-do-do merchants and the Moscow intelligentsia. Pushkin, Yesenin and the bard and poet of Soviet days, Bulat Okudzhava were all at home in the Arbat. The tour will introduce you to the history and architecture of this unique district, its monuments and sights. Street musicians, portrait artists and souvenir sellers add colour to the experience.
